Sonic Ether’s Unbelievable Shaders Mod For Minecraft 1.6.2

Posted on March 20th, 2013 in Mods | No Comments »

Sonic Ethers Shaders for Minecraft is absolutely one incredible mod. Working alongside OptiFine to run these extreme visuals at the highest speeds, Shaders has become one of the most mind blowing Minecraft Mods available right now. What Sonic Ether Shaders for Minecraft does is it takes the standard block style gaming and revamps the graphic experience so that it feels almost like real life! The texture pack that comes with it enables you to view High Definition 3D textures, perfect cinematic reflections and lens flares that you never would’ve thought were possible in Minecraft!

Unfortunately for many players, the Mod is a very CPU intensive change to your Minecraft client and will require a decent amount of power from both your CPU(central processing unit) and GPU (graphics processing unit). In other words, unless you have a fairly expensive computer, you won’t be able to run this mod at its highest potential. Even while the mod is running alongside Optifine which theoretically should cause the mod to run smoothly on your computer, it still takes a massive tole on your rig.

Have a look below at some of the beautiful cinematic examples of what Sonic Ether’s Shaders can do for your Minecraft client.

Fortunately for myself, I have the necessary processing power to run Sonic Ether’s Unbelievable Shaders Mod on my Minecraft client and I must say, it is breathtaking. The minute I installed this mod my jaw dropped and since then I’ve been running the latest Shaders Mod for Minecraft. If the above Images/video don’t have you drooling over Sonic Ether’s Unbelievable Shaders Mod for Minecraft 1.4.7 then you really need to re-evaluate your gaming experience. Shaders is definitely something that EVERYONE who can should install and try out. And when you load up your installation and look at your house and mine in a new way, don’t deny that I told you so! Sonic Ether’s Shaders Mod is absolutely phenomenal!

How to install:

  1. Download the latest version of OptiFine.
  2. Download the latest version of Sonic Ether’s Unbelievable Shaders Mod.
  3. Type %appdata% into the start menu
  4. Open .Minecraft and then the bin folder
  5. Open Minecraft.jar with winrar or 7zip
  6. Delete the META.INF folder
  7. Drag in the Optifne Mod files
  8. Drag in the Sonic Ether’s Unbelievable Shaders Mod files!
  9. Load up Minecraft and Enjoy!

Flan’s Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2

Posted on March 13th, 2013 in Mods | No Comments »

Since the early betas of Minecraft, centuries ago, players have wanted to construct and operate vehicles! For one reason or another it’s just been something that Minecraft players have been craving. And since the early betas of Minecraft, Flan’s Mod has been satisfying those cravings! With Flan’s Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2 you can construct classic World War II fighter planes, guns, tanks, cars, go karts, basically anything that you want! Of course you need the necessary addon installed in order to build your desired vehicle but once that is done, it’s off to crafting!

Interested in flying with your fellow Minecraft pilots? Well, Luckily for you there’s actually several multiplayer servers which are being hosted that have full support for Flans Mod! As long as you’ve got the mod installed on your end, you can feel free to drop in and soar in the skies with your personally constructed crafts! At the end of this post you can find a link where several Flan’s Mod servers are listed.

Below is a video of how Flan’s Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2 can really change your Minecraft experience into say, A World War II battle scene!

I’ve tried this mod many times before however the recent updates made to it have really changed my position on it. The recently added vehicles and recipes have really helped to bring this mod to a more considerable status. And while I wouldn’t personally use this mod for Multiplayer, it is a cute single-player Minecraft mod! Flan’s Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2 is definitely a different type of mod than I’m used to however it adds an extreme amount of enjoyment to my single-player experience! I suggest you give it a try as well and let us know what you think!

OptiFine for Minecraft 1.6.2

Posted on March 11th, 2013 in Mods | No Comments »

OptiFine, A mod that has recently been developed to assist the portion of the Minecraft community running on weaker hardware, has become a must have for many Minecraft players today. What Optifine for Minecraft does is it helps your game run faster and look much nicer. According to Paul (the author of Optifine for Minecraft 1.6.2), “It increased my frame-rates dramatically”! Upon testing this out myself on a lower end system I discovered that loading world chunks took a fraction of the time normally needed and the game began perform at a much smoother rate. This FPS boost alone is enough for the average Minecraft player to permanently add this mod to their collection!

OptiFine also comes with a variety of special features such as full support for HD texture packs. You’ll know first hand if you’ve ever tried to use some sort of High Definition texture pack that you needed to mod your game in some way with some type of loader to get it working. Luckily with OptiFine, all you need is this mod and your texture pack and you should be set to play. The incredible Shaders mod/texture pack that has recently been released also relies on Optifine on a Minecraft installation not only for the HD support but also for the speed boost.

Below is a video from the author of OptiFine for Minecraft 1.6.2 and an idea of how it could help out your gameplay!

OptiFine for Minecraft 1.6.2 isn’t something you’ll find you need on a high end computer UNLESS you plan on using the Shaders mod, because chances are you’re already getting a steady 60FPS. However, for most Minecraft players OptiFine should be a lifesaver in that it claims to double your FPS. Personally I’m using OptiFine on my laptop and I must say the results are absolutely incredible. I never thought Minecraft could run so smooth! So, that’s where I’d make my recommendation; to those of you who are running on a generally slower computer who are struggling to keep 30-40 fps, this is going to definitely be something worth trying out. However it’s not so important to the more hardcore pc gamer out there (Unless you’re using Shaders).

Millenaire Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2

Posted on March 10th, 2013 in Mods | No Comments »

If you haven’t yet tried Millenaire for Minecraft 1.6.2 by Kinniken, you haven’t yet lived! This is one of the most popular, complex, and exciting single-player mod available for the Minecraft Community! Specifically what Millenaire does for your game is it creates a more populated feel in your Role Play experience. It adds intelligent NPC’s to your game that actually build structures, towns and communities in your very own world! Millenaire allows these communities to expand and flourish allowing for trading between villagers and yourself. In doing so you will be helping these communities expand and generate a larger town! It’s really an Assassins Creed style RPG theme that dates back just as Assassins creed does.

Millenaire is definitely one hell of a mod for Minecraft 1.6.2 and it has surely proven itself over the past versions of Minecraft. Since beta Millenaire for Minecraft 1.6.2 has been included in the YogBox as well as many other mod packs and has earned itself a place among some of the most legendary and greatest Minecraft mods ever created. Millenaire has even influenced such Vanilla changes as the villagers addition and has definitely proven itself in creating a new RPG experience for the Minecraft Community. I for one loved the YogBox (back when it was called the YogBox) and found that Millenaire for Minecraft 1.6.2 made a great addition to it.

Below is a quick video summary of how the Millenaire Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2 will change your single-player experience!

The Millenaire Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2 is something that you need to thing about before you install. Once installed towns will begin to erect in your world and uninstalling this mod definitely will not take down the towns and structures that had been built by the NPC’s. This makes Millenaire a quite permanent mod and thus should be put under consideration before installed on your system. I love this mod and greatly enjoy having a more RPG-like experience and I love trading with the villagers! If you enjoy multiplayer Minecraft and would like the populated feel in a single-player environment try it out! I’m sure you’ll love it.

Better Than Wolves Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2

Posted on March 10th, 2013 in Mods | No Comments »

Better than wolves mod is not your usual Minecraft Mod. This mod, rather than being a sort of addition to your game client is more of a modification to the core structure of Minecraft. Changes have been made in Better Then Wolves that make the game more realistic. In rough terrain you will move slower than on a smooth constructed road. Water no longer is placed as a source block and water levels out as it would in a real life situation.

With these types of core modifications to the game you are definitely going to find the game get more challenging. Shortcuts you may have taken to create obsidian generators or any other type of exploit have now been nullified. Lava cannot be placed in buckets and life in single player will be more troublesome. For most Minecraft players however the Better Than Wolves mod should come as a great improvement to the game. It definitely adds an element that leaves the player with a self of satisfaction that they are able to maintain themselves and stand up against the difficult environment surrounding them. It’s definitely an experience that needs to be had.

Below is a short video of how the Better Than Wolves Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2 works and how it will change your single player experience.

In a nutshell, The Better Than Wolves Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2 is definitely something users are going to have to get used to. It drastically modifies your game-play experience and is not the usual type of addition mod. I personally have come to appreciate such changes to the game and have found that the increased difficulty makes the game more realistic and definitely challenges my single player experience. As an avid single-player Minecraft player I truly appreciate the Better Than Wolves Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2 and would love to see it more widely used by the Minecraft community. I even feel that maybe perhaps some of these modifications should be integrated into Vanilla Minecraft!

I highly recommend you try this mod out if you are someone who really enjoys playing Minecraft single-player and would like to make their experience in single-player a more interesting one!

TNT Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2

Posted on August 27th, 2012 in Mods | No Comments »

Minecraft TNT

Back in 2011 we did a review of a mod known as the TNT for Minecraft and we found that it has been known as one of the most popular mods for Minecraft 1.6.2 to date! It is certainly something to have fun with considering the most fun in any sandbox game is destroying things! With the several types of TNT you were able to create explosions that ranged from a small pit of lava to an enormous whole in the ground! Digging mine-shafts was a thing of the past when TNT was first introduced back in 2011. Today we’ve got an update for you guys that will allow you to do the same in your updated Minecraft clients.

TNT Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2 is the same as the older versions in that it allows you to detonate almost anything on a large scale however it seems the developer has added a new explosive known as a scatter bomb. This bomb is just like any other block of TNT however it does an extreme amount of damage to the surrounding area. Luckily for veteran users however the Nuke, Napalm, and Fire Bomb are still in place and can be used just as they used to be.

Below is a video of  demonstrating the TNT Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2.

Again, just as with the Elemental Creepers Mod, I personally would never use a mod like this in my own personal world. It is far too dangerous of a mod and is sure to destroy your hard work. However, again for those of you who are interested in experimenting with Minecrafts physics and too see what it would be like to blow up a world, this mod is definitely for you! I must say it is an extremely entertaining mod but just not something the dedicated, serious crafter would be interested in toying with.

Just like previous versions of this mod you are required to install ModLoader prior to installing the mod, otherwise it will not inject correctly and chances are, your Minecraft will output errors. If you are interested in aquiring the recipes for all five of the different forms of TNT, you can find that here.

Where’s Waldo Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2

Posted on August 26th, 2012 in Mods | No Comments »

Remember Where’s Waldo? The book you used to look through when you were seven; The one where you spent hours at a time looking for the tall man in a red striped shirt with the matching hat?! I’ve always wanted a mod like this for my Minecraft installation and now finally, it has been done! Introducing, Where’s Waldo for Miencraft!

The Where’s Waldo Minecraft mod introduces a new mob known as “Waldo”, into your Minecraft world. Unfortunately however you won’t see this mob as often as you will skeletons and zombies; no. In fact Waldo is an extremely rare mob and he works off of the same concept as the book we all once “read”. He is extremely rare and just like in the book, it will take you hours before finding him. Fortunately however for Minecraft 1.6.2 players, the developer has let us all know that Waldo can be found in nearly any of the Minecraft Biomes; meaning wherever you are in your world, chances are you will see him at some point.

Upon making contact with Waldo, you will be able to kill him and once you do, there is a possibility he will drop his hat. This hat can be worn just as any other hat/helmet can. If users are interested in crafting any of his clothes, they can as well. Here you can find a list of recipes outlining how to create his hat, chest, pants, and boots.

This mod in my personal opinion is a lot of fun. I’ve tried it on my test world and have found it to work perfectly in my normal one as well. The reason I love it so much is because it’s just subtle mod that hardly changes the gameplay at all. It’s difficult to notice the mod is even in place most of the time, that is until you actually find Waldo in the wild! I really like this mod and would highly recommend the Where’s Waldo mod to anyone who’s not really looking to make a big change to their minecraft worlds. It’s a really fun easter egg addon to the game and

If you’re interested in trying out the mod for yourself, you can download it below.

Elemental Creepers for Minecraft 1.6.2

Posted on August 26th, 2012 in Mods | No Comments »

Elemental Creepers for Minecraft 1.6.2, a mod that was once exclusive the the YogBox Minecraft Mod Pack is now available separately due to a change in heart of its developer. This mod, among many other creeper mods is different in that it effects not only the look of Creepers in the game, but it also modifies their reaction when detonating. While your usual creeper with blow up as a  standard block of TNT, this mod pack makes it so that these creepers take on the characteristics of different elements in the game. For instance, say you spawn a fire creeper; Can you guess what element of the game would spawn once this elemental creeper detonates?

There are about 14 elemental creepers at the current time and these beings range from psychic creepers who knock you a few feet in the air, to earth creepers who have the power to turn an entire building into a gigantic cube of dirt! Some of the creepers that spawn from this mod are extremely entertaining and are definitely a fun addition to the game while others are a massive nuisance.

Below is a video of UberHaxorNova reviewing the Elemental Creepers Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2.

Personally I find this mod to be extremely entertaining but definitely not something I would use in my world, especially if I were serious about the things I was building (which I am). On the other hand, those who are interested in toying with the physics and possibilities in Minecraft should find that this mod will take up quite a bit of your time. Even I, in my experimental world found this mod to be quite fun for some time. Installing the mod is as simple as downloading the rar file and extracting it to your minecraft.jar file. Elemental Creepers is definitely a well thought out mod, however it’s just too dangerous for some of the more intense crafters out there!

YogBox for Minecraft 1.6.2

Posted on April 2nd, 2012 in Mods | No Comments »

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted but fear not, the mod community has been flourishing and recently Minecraft has reached a full 1.0 release! Along with these 1.0+ releases the Yogscast hasn’t failed to impress with their incredible YogBox mod!

The changelog for the most recent release of the YogBox for Minecraft 1.6.2 states

  • First major public release based on Minecraft v1.2.3 core
  • Thaumcraft 2 added (WARNING, OLDER SAVES WILL BREAK!)
  • Airships make a triumphant return
  • Added ExtraBiomesXL
  • Added StatusEffectHUD
  • Enchanted items can now be repaired via enchantment table1.8.1 mini v1

The entire mod has come a long way since I’ve last touched on it. The installer has a completely new GUI and allows you to select which specific mods you would like to install! In fact, the latest release of the YogBox includes over 30 mods that have been tweaked specifically for the Yogscast crew and all have been made fully compatible with the latest version of Minecraft.

The latest release of the YogBox for Minecraft 1.6.2 was build not only by the Yogscast team, however it was a new joint effort with the technic forum team! The new release is absolutely incredible and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an incredibly new and imporoved Minecraft/YogBox experience!

YogBox for Minecraft Beta 1.8.1 1.6.2

Posted on September 29th, 2011 in Mods | No Comments »

Well, Minecraft Beta 1.8.1 is here and you all knew what was coming next. Ladies and Gentlemen the YogBox for Minecraft Beta 1.8.1 has officially been released and it is really coming along quite well. Unfortunately however, due to the extreme amount of bug fixes, modifications and additions that the recent 1.8 and 1.8.1 patch have had on the game, The YogBox for Minecraft Beta 1.8.1 is a very slimmed down version of the previous versions of the YogBox Minecraft Modpack.

The changelog for the most recent release for Minecraft Beta 1.8.1 states

1.8.1 mini v1
-Nowhere near as robust as previous versions. If you’re a YB fan, stick to 1.7.3 v1.1 otherwise enjoy some extra fluff with an ever-expanding vanilla Minecraft.

Personally I am really enjoying the new Minecraft experience and feel that no mods are really necessary at the current time. I would however like to see the integration of Millenaire in future YogBox releases.

While the current version of YogBox for Minecraft Beta 1.8.1 is fairly premature, the team is constantly working on ways to integrate the latest and greatest mods in order to satisfy the YogBox fanbase!
